Test Requirement When Braking
The examiner will point out two marker cones approximately 61 metres (200 feet) ahead - see diagram opposite. You should build up a speed of about 20mph, and when the front of the vehicle passes between the two cones, apply the brakes stopping your vehicle and trailer safely and under full control.
Braking - Do
- Stop the vehicle as quickly as possible.
- Brake under full control of the vehicle.
- Stop the vehicle as safely as possible.
- Stop the vehicle in a straight line.
Braking - Do Not
- Drive to slowly - less than 20mph.
- Brake too soon - anticipate the marker points.
- Brake too harshly causing the vehicle to skid.
- Depress the clutch too late and stall the engine.
- Take too long to stop.
